The made a return trip to Tube Chassis Designz for some much needed weight loss to start off 2007.  The intent was to simply mount the new fiberglass doors and fenders which we picked up over the winter.  Well that turned into replacing the completely rotted rocker panels as well.  Jon and John once again proved why they are one of the best chassis builders/fabricators on the east coast by pounding out the work you see in the pictures below.

On our journey to losing massive amounts of weight, we decided it was time for the bulky corners of the firewall to take a hike.  doing so not only saved us weight, it also gave us much more room to do what we wanted with the door mounts.  This does not affect the driver protection element of the firewall at all since metal was put back in its place.  You can see the old rocker panels next to the new ones on the floor.  Wow, what a difference!!

So there we have it.  All buttoned up, doors aligned, and ready for paint.  From here, the car will travel over to Casella racing member Mike Rowell's house for a fresh coat of "Can't miss me Yellow".  From there, it will travel back to the house to receive the refreshed motor and a complete re-wire.  Things are really coming together.

Here we have the car back from the paint shop.  You can see that Mike (crew member/painter) did an unbelievable job with the paint.  We are also very pleased with the way the chassis work came out.

Installation of the fuel pumps and fuel cell is complete.  Just a few wires here and there and the rear half of the car will be done.  You can also see here the newly fixed frame rail which took a beating when the motor let go.

As you can see, the motor is now sitting comfortably where it belongs.  The transmission is all bolted up, and the passenger's side header is on.  The coil is mounted in its new home.  We had to relocate it because of the new front mount distributor.  The interior of the car is starting to go back together as well.

The car is finally complete and ready for the 2007 Season.  Below, you will see the pictures of the completed car including the new painted fiberglass doors and fenders.  These two new additions to help us to save some weight and hopefully make us go a little faster.
